We are Alex and Roxanne, best friends who get our kicks exploring the world on horseback. Our shared travel habit started with a wild backpacking trip through India and levelled up the day we booked our first ride in Egypt, heard our first “YALLAH”, felt all four hooves leave the ground and raced each other past the pyramids in a blur of dust. That was the moment we knew: this is how we are meant to travel. Ride or die, Thelma and Louise, horse edition.

Since then we have chased every chance to see the world between two ears: falling asleep under the Milky Way and to laughing geckos, swimming horses in the Red Sea, galloping through ancient deserts and canyons, dodging piranhas and sleepy anacondas, and mustering wild horses barefoot with the llaneros.

We call it The Bad Pony Club as a nod to our scruffy childhoods under the African sky, racing around on naughty ponies. We were taught to earn the thrill of the ride through hard work: tacking up, mucking out, rolling up sleeves and getting grubby. We got bucked off more times than we can count, but we learned to dust off, laugh and get back on because another adventure always waits. The bad ponies, the ones with the biggest opinions, are the ones that push you, teach you and leave you fearless for life.
